VENTURA, Calif. – Ventura County Assessor Keith Taylor has officially certified and delivered the 2025 Annual Assessment Roll to Auditor-Controller Jeff Burgh as of Thursday, June 26 – ahead of the July 1 statutory deadline. The roll reflects a record-setting $187 billion in taxable property, highlighting the continued strength and stability of the county’s property tax base.
Despite a slowdown in residential property sales, the total roll increased by 4.3% over the previous year. Of the approximately 290,000 assessments enrolled, more than 208,000 properties received the standard 2% increase under Proposition 13, the 1978 ballot measure that caps the annual increases for properties not sold or newly constructed. Properties that changed ownership or underwent new construction may see greater increases.
The Assessor’s Office is preparing to mail assessed value notices to approximately 250,000 property owners by mid-July.
The 2025 Roll also reflects the application of numerous property tax saving programs. These exemptions benefit qualified owners or uses such as disabled veterans, hospitals, churches, colleges, museums, and non-profit organizations including low-income housing providers. This year, over $6.2 billion in property value was exempted, an increase of 1.4% from the previous year.
If you have questions about the value notice or believe your assessed value exceeds market value as of January 1, 2025, please contact Assessor’s Office at (805) 654-2181 or visit assessor.venturacounty.gov.
To appeal an assessment you may file an Assessment Appeal Application with the Clerk of the Assessment Appeals Board between July 2 and September 15 by calling (805) 654-2251 or by visiting venturacounty.gov/cob/aab.
