An equipment lease is a contractual agreement between the owner of the equipment (lessor) and a business owner (lessee) that allows the lessee to use the equipment for a period of time for regular payments.

Agreements under which an owner gives up possession and use of property for valuable consideration and for a definite term and at the end of the term, the owner has the absolute right to retake, control, or convey the property.
Purchase agreements rather than true leases. Possession of the property transfers to the lessee without full legal title until payment of the purchase price or a predetermined date occurs.
